We look at the colour, the texture, and even the “weathering” of your existing masonry. Furthermore, we pay close attention to the Mortar Tint and the Pointing Style (how the cement sits between the bricks). By matching these fine details, we ensure your extension looks like a natural, original part of the property rather than a modern bolt-on.

A “knock-through” is the pivotal moment where we remove an existing external wall to merge your old home with the new extension. It is perfectly safe when managed by experts. We use heavy-duty temporary supports (often called “Acrow props”) to hold the weight of your upper floors while we install permanent structural steel beams (RSJs). Our Director personally oversees these critical structural milestones to ensure the load-bearing integrity of your home is never compromised.

In 2026, building regulations regarding ground stability are more rigorous than ever. Typically, standard “trench fill” foundations need to be at least 1 metre deep. However, this can increase significantly if your property is built on heavy clay, or if there are large trees nearby whose roots could affect the soil. As part of our service, we manage the site investigation and coordinate with Building Control officers to ensure your foundations are inspected and signed off before a single brick is laid.

In the vast majority of cases, no. We have refined a “phased” construction approach that allows you to remain in your home. We typically build the new “shell” externally first—accessing the site through the garden or side of the house. This keeps the mess and heavy materials outside your living areas. It is only during the final weeks, when we connect the new space to the old, that there is any significant internal disruption. We use professional-grade dust screening and temporary partitions to ensure your kitchen, living rooms, and bedrooms remain clean and usable throughout.
